Hamilton’ run in Milwaukee helps both theater, community

In David Bodette’s mind, the Saint Kate hotel “crushed it” over the past month thanks to the Milwaukee debut of “Hamilton.”

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s smash musical about one of America’s founding fathers played for the first time in the city beginning Oct. 22. The show’s four-week run sold out and was a boost for not only the host theater – the Marcus Performing Arts Center – but also nearby businesses like Saint Kate. Read more...

Bodette, Saint Kate’s general manager, said “Hamilton” helped the hotel break records in its theater attendance crowds, starting in the first week. The run overlapped with performances of “West Side Story” at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, leading Saint Kate at one point to sell out its valet service.
