Locating Private Spaces by Jen Wohlner

Nov 11–Apr 23, 2023

The Vitrine

Jen Wohlner’s detailed pen and colored pencil drawings and ceramic sculptures address the repetitive architecture and planning of modern residential communities and the isolated individuals who inhabit them.

Jen’s exhibition in the Vitrine consists primarily of a large ceramic sculpture. Like her other recent ceramic sculptures, this large work is figurative and fluid. Her exhibition focuses on conceptual themes of gender and sexuality. She pairs this focus with technical concerns about color, form, and how background and foreground function in sculpture. This exhibition is an extension of Jen Wohlner’s existing body of work and a reflection on identity and isolation in crowded suburban and urban communities.
