Since January, Saint Kate has been serving some of the best sushi in Milwaukee. Chef Tou Vang, a 20 year sushi veteran, has worked in California, Miami, and the French Riviera. We are very fortunate to have him with us. His delicious sushi is available in Aria, the Saint Kate Lobby Bar and for private catered parties. His food has garnered praise from OnMilwaukee, Urban Milwaukee, Shepard’s Express and Forbes Magazine.
Twice a month, he lets his creative soy flow with a 14 course Omakase special dinner in The Dark Room for just 14 people. The first two months have all sold out, and new dates for September and October are being released soon.
One of those October dates is this special homage to one of his great inspirations, Master Sushi Chef Jiro Ono. While Jiro is no longer well enough to travel, he will be here in spirit as we celebrate him with a showing of this spectacular and moving documentary. Filmed by director David Gelb, who has gone on the produce the highly acclaimed Chef’s Table documentaries on Netflix with the world’s greatest chefs.
Chef Tou will further honor Jiro by recreating some of his famous dishes in the film, including the 45 Minute Marinated Octopus, and the Three Piece Tuna Flight. Chef Tou will also by using Jiro’s Special Rice Wine Vinegar and Special Aged Nori in other dishes.
